Eastern Highlands Fofona Neckpiece. These wonderful woven and painted pieces are worn as pectorals, on the back, or even held in the mouth of dancers at ceremonies and sing sings in the Highlands. This one is made of beautifully woven bush twine. It is decorated with shells and native-made paint. The shells on this one are a fair amount bigger than most. This piece dates to the mid-20th century and comes from an old Florida collection. It is 15 inches wide, 16.25 inches high and comes with a custom mount.
