This fun figure is nicely carving and painted with village-made clay-based paints. There is a nice age patina on it. It is 12.75 inches tall. It was collected in Tambunum village on the middle Sepik River in December of 1976.
I recently obtained a group of artifacts from legendary New Guinea collector Ron Perry. He collected them in situ in the fall of 1976. They all came from an unopened crate from that time, so none have been seen or sold before.
