Old Woven Highlands Armband, Papua New Guinea. A very fine old dance costume armband. Woven of rattan with woven bush twine and shell trim. It has an antique glass shell ring. These rings were brought in many years ago to use as trade items. They were used as money like the locally handmade shell rings. For a time, the glass rings became more valuable than the shell ones, since they were so perfect and exotic. The armband is approximately 3.75 inches in diameter. Comes with a custom stand.
